erg.

Well, I can't access my blog, or any blogs, without using a proxy sneak server. Now, I can't upload photos. So for the time being, not much here until the firewall eases. I'm off to backpack and travel for a few weeks. Photos to come.

No worries, man.
That will give us enough time to slowly enjoy what you've posted from China so far.
Enjoy your trip!

Hey Ben, I ran into this problem all the time. You need to get a program called Tor. Those proxy services are slow as hell—I know—so Tor allows you to burrow through an alternate, unrestricted site to access whatever you want. Also, it might keep you from getting arrested if you decide to start reporting on anything controversial.

It runs as a small program in the background and doesn't steal a lot of resources from the computer the way proxy servers do.

Also, it's free.

Send me an email if you need a way to get a copy of Tor, as it is probably blocked in China through normal methods. I can maybe send you an encrypted USB stick via post, or set up a private, encrypted torrent. If you do get a copy of it, be careful because some governments consider it a crime to have it.
