July 4 — The busiest day in my photo career

July 4th, traditionally, is intern extravaganza at the Post Register. The photo intern covers every assignment, has every pic in the next days paper. No one else is around except the intern. I covered and self edited for deadline: Fireworks (which ran on the front page) baseball game (action lead, pitcher file photo I had to find in my takes secondary for a seperate story), Independence Parade, Settlers Festival and a Feature Hunt (which all ran in our "West" section as a 6-photo package). I worked from 9:15 a.m until 11:15 p.m., with a short break to eat burgers with the boss and his family.

Sounds like a busy ass say. I like the BMX shot how he's sort of isolated against the small piece of blue sky.

Yo dudeness. I just noticed a post you had on my blog about the graffiti shots. For the top one, I did the ye olde painting with light. I tried a few different versions and then got the idea to add in some twinkle to see if it helped. Like you know how some graffiti has lens flair type stuff on some of it. So I tried that by holding the flash light towards the camera for like 1.5-2 seconds for each twink. The bright one on the left top was held on for a little longer...like 4 seconds. The camera was on a tripod at f8 with the shutter locked open on bulb. It was open for maybe 45 seconds.
